This policy outlines what is and is not permitted when using the Indaba platform.

Last updated: 1 March 2026

1. Purpose

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") governs your use of Indaba's products and services. It is designed to protect the security, reliability, and integrity of the platform for all users. Violation of this AUP may result in suspension or termination of your account.

2. Prohibited Activities

You may not use the Service to:

Security & Infrastructure

  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Service, other accounts, or related systems
  • Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Service without prior written authorisation
  • Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service (including DDoS attacks)
  • Circumvent any security measures, rate limits, or access controls
  • Introduce malware, viruses, or other harmful code

Reverse Engineering & Scraping

  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service
  • Scrape, crawl, or use automated tools to extract data from the platform beyond authorised API usage
  • Replicate, resell, or redistribute any data, reports, or AI outputs without authorisation
  • Use the API to build a competing product or service

Content & Conduct

  • Upload, transmit, or store content that is unlawful, defamatory, obscene, or fraudulent
  • Impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation
  • Use the Service to send unsolicited communications (spam)
  • Engage in bid-rigging, collusion, or any practice that violates procurement regulations
  • Upload false or misleading tender information

Account Abuse

  • Share account credentials with individuals outside your organisation
  • Create multiple accounts to circumvent plan limits or bans
  • Use automated methods to create accounts
  • Exceed the number of seats permitted by your subscription plan

3. Rate Limits & Fair Use

To ensure platform stability, all accounts are subject to rate limits based on their subscription tier:

ResourceStarterProEnterprise
API requests/minute1060300
API requests/day50010,000100,000
AI operations/day20100500
File uploads/day502001,000
Export operations/hour520100

Exceeding rate limits results in temporary throttling (HTTP 429). Persistent abuse may trigger account review.

4. Monitoring

Indaba reserves the right to monitor usage patterns to detect violations of this AUP. Monitoring is conducted through automated systems and may include:

  • API request logging and anomaly detection
  • Automated scanning of uploaded content for malware
  • Behavioural analysis to detect credential sharing or bot usage

We do not monitor the content of your business data unless required for security purposes or legal compliance.

5. Consequences of Violation

Violations of this AUP may result in the following actions, at Indaba's sole discretion:

Level 1

Warning

Written notice identifying the violation with a request to cease the activity within 48 hours.

Level 2

Temporary Suspension

Account access suspended for up to 30 days pending investigation. Data remains intact.

Level 3

Permanent Termination

Account permanently disabled. 30-day window to export data, then data is deleted.

Severe violations (security breaches, illegal activity) may result in immediate termination without prior warning, and may be reported to relevant authorities.
